Cell Biosciences

Characterization of phosphoprotein signaling in limited biological samples using the Cell Biosciences CB1000

The Cell Biosciences CB1000 system enables detailed characterization of phosphoprotein signaling processes in extremely small biological samples. Whereas traditional protein analysis techniques require thousands to millions of cells, the CB1000 requires as few as 25 cells per assay.

Kodak X-Sight 761 Nanospheres effectively label living cells for longitudinal cell tracking in mice

Near-infrared fluorescent Kodak X-Sight 761 Nanospheres were readily absorbed by melanoma cancer cells growing in culture. When we implanted these cells in mice, they grew into palpable tumors that maintained the nanoparticle cell label. This facile labeling strategy permits longitudinal mapping of the tumor implant site during whole-animal fluorescence imaging, providing a convenient substitute for the use of genetic reporters for this application.

Sequenom

Mutation profiling in tumor samples using the Sequenom OncoCarta™ Panel

Sequenom's MassARRAY® system enables sensitive and rapid somatic mutation profiling in solid tumors or cell lines. Our validation studies revealed mutations in most of the oncogenes analyzed, and the mutation frequency was consistent with previous reports. We also found new low-frequency mutations in our tumor samples, indicating that rare and potentially targetable mutations can be identified with this approach.

BMG Labtech

Enzyme kinetic measurements performed on BMG Labtech's FLUOstar Optima

BMG LABTECH has developed a new evaluation software feature able to calculate the Km value as well as the maximal velocity (Vmax) from an enzymatic kinetic measurement.

Enzymes differ in their affinity to specific substrates and this affinity is represented by the Michaelis-Menten constant Km. The new software feature for enzyme kinetic offers fast and easy calculation of Km and Vmax. Available plots are the common Michaelis-Menten, Lineweaver-Burk, Eadie-Hofstee, Scatchard and Hanes kinetic fits.

Real Time Kinetics - Real World Samples - RAPid 4

The RAPid 4 is a flow-based analysis system which performs label-free interaction analysis in real-time. By directly detecting the association and dissociation of molecules on the surface of a quartz crystal, the acoustic system enables the determination and quantification of protein interactions in buffered solutions and in complex mixtures that may contain solvents, serum, growth media or other impurities. In addition, the initial binding rate can be used to accurately determine the concentration of target molecules across a broad dynamic range. RAPid 4 is designed to analyze up to 4 samples or combinations of samples and control materials in parallel, typically processing an average of 350 samples per day. As a fully automated platform, it requires minimal user intervention and runs unattended for days.

Oxidative and metabolic stability of drugs: assessment by a novel Electroactive Pharmaceutical Screening System

A major focus observed in recent years in drug development is to reduce the number of compound failures at a late stage. Such misfortune is frequently the result of unfavourable compound properties, like hepatic toxicity, metabolic instability or slight potency. Rational drug discovery begins with the knowledge of stability and reactivity of libraries and early prediction of properties (e.g. drug-likeness, ADME, toxicity), that influence the success of a drug candidate at the end of development. To address this challenge,Gatlik® Company has introduced the ElectroactivePharmaceuticalScreening(EPS)System to allow more informed and accurate decisions about synthesis and lead selection in the early stages.
