We present in this collection twelve of Translational Psychiatry's highest-impact articles from 2022, selected by Editor-in-Chief Julio Licinio. It was an arduous task to select among a very high number of outstanding articles. The selected papers exemplify the broad scope and range of Translational Psychiatry, including topics such as mental health and brain outcomes of SARS-CoV-2 infection, brain network dysfunctions in addiction, advances in depression research, including post-partum depression, and mechanisms of ketamine action, immunological causes of obsessive-compulsive disorder, glutamatergic dysfunction and therapeutics in schizophrenia, and the intriguing new concept of insulinopathies of the brain. These remarkable articles speak for themselves – please enjoy them.
