Four genomes
A close encounter with Dendrodoris nigra, a nudibranch from Hawaiian shore lines. The photographer, Eric Röttinger, is a postdoctoral fellow in Mark Martindale's group at the University of Hawaii Kewalo Marine Laboratory. Besides his work on evolutionary and developmental biology, Eric has a keen interest in portraying the fascinating, colourful and highly endangered marine world, and is an active contributor to the Kahi Kai ("one ocean") online community www.kahikai.org. For more amazing photographs of sea creatures, be sure to also visit the new website of Eric and his colleagues at http://images.kahikai.com.
