Agendia

Agendia's MammaPrint® breast cancer prognosis test: Implementing DNA micro-array technology in the clinical management of cancer.

Agendia is the first company to introduce micro-array based gene expression diagnostics in the clinic. This test, named MammaPrint®, is based on the discovery by scientists from the Netherlands Cancer Institute that a set of 70 genes predicts the future development of metastases in breast cancer more accurately than conventional criteria. MammaPrint® has been independently validated by an international consortium and is available today to assist breast cancer patients and their doctors to make the difficult decision on the choice for additional (adjuvant) chemotherapy. March of Dimes

The March of Dimes is a not-for-profit health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth. JDRF

JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation. In 2006, JDRF will spend up to $120 million on research in support of its mission.
