Virus may soon be made to glow green to ease research.

An influential committee at the World Health Organization (WHO) has voted in favour of modifying genes in the smallpox virus, and in the vaccine strains that eradicated the disease.If enacted, the recommendations would overturn decades of policy that govern the two remaining samples of the variola virus, which causes smallpox.
