Seafloor vents spawn spat

Ancient springs are thousands of years old, not billions, say geologists.

A rock formation thought to be the relic of three-billion-year-old hot springs has been around for only a few thousand years, geologists are claiming1.

If they are right, our picture of the ancient Earth might have to be redrawn.
