Rival DVD formats square up for battle
Hollywood studios' choice may scupper Sony's chances.
Four Hollywood studios have decided to back Toshiba's new DVD format, dealing a blow to Sony's rival technology.
Toshiba and NEC are competing against a consortium of electronics firms headed by Sony in a race to bring higher quality DVDs to your living room.
