  • Regarding the monkey "genome" article I am wondering how anyone can consider themselves human when they torture another sentient species to gain perceived data that can be gotten in any number of other less monstrous ways. Excluding the obviously evil practice of brain surgery on helpless so-called "lower" primates, just what makes these people of science so sure that they are even a little human?

  • Freeman: Unless you possess chlorophyl and make your own food from sunlight, you kill and eat other living things to survive . Where do you draw the line between cute-and-fuzzy versus fit-to-be-eaten? I'll grant you the sentience of some non homo-sapiens, but guarantee you that a hungry non-sentient won't care about your inner dialogue.
