Japan's monitoring system beaten by shallow quake

Earthquake takes nine lives as destruction arrives ahead of warning.

A magnitude-7.2 earthquake that hit northern Japan on Sunday morning has claimed at least nine lives, left another dozen people missing, and destroyed houses and factories throughout the region.

  • In fact,the seismic source is not always same to the epicenter location ,so this systerm will work in most time.

  • What would be the casualty in the whole area affected by the earthquake (not just the epicenter) if no warning was given? Look what just happened a month ago in the other place. Those who seek faults in the earthquake warning system or even fight against forecasting earthquake should have some reality check!--------Shi V.
