Abstract
Transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells from a genetically nonidentical donor has saved the lives of many people with malignant and nonmalignant hematological diseases. But despite prophylaxis with immunosuppressive drugs, people with such allogeneic transplants often suffer a deadly complication—graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
