Editorial Team

Editor: Vincent Dusastre

Vincent Dusastre gained his first degree in physical chemistry from the Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse), followed by a MSc in materials science from the University of Kent. His research interests during his PhD from University College London (obtained in 1998) and postdoctoral experience at Imperial College were in the design and investigation of the chemical and physical properties of oxide materials with practical implications for gas-sensing and fuel-cell applications.

He joined Nature in 1999, where he was responsible for manuscripts in materials research covering many aspects of its interface with chemistry, physics, and nanotechnology. In addition to his duties as Editor, he will also be handling manuscripts in the area of solid state chemistry, electrochemistry and materials for energy.

Senior editor: Joerg Heber

Joerg Heber received a degree in physics from the University of Erlangen (Germany), followed by a PhD in solid-state physics from Imperial College in 2000. He was able to further widen his research background in condensed matter physics during his postdoctoral stays at Bell Labs (Murray Hill, NJ) and the University of Marburg (Germany), where he worked on semiconductor materials and optoelectronics. Having joined Nature Materials in March 2005, he handles manuscripts in fields such as condensed matter physics, photonics as well as metallurgy and related areas.

Senior editor: Fabio Pulizzi

Fabio Pulizzi received a broad training in solid-state physics at the University of Rome La Sapienza, and at the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands, where he obtained his PhD. During his postdoctoral positions at the Universities of Nottingham and Sheffield his interests focused on the transport, optical and structural properties of semiconductor nanostructures. He joined Nature Materials in January 2006, where he handles manuscripts concerning all aspects of solid-state materials, such as spintronics, crystal growth, microscopy and all related aspects of condensed matter physics.

Associate editor: Alison Stoddart

Alison Stoddart received her MSci in Chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK, before undertaking a PhD in the area of dendrimer synthesis with Professor Jim Feast at the Centre of Polymer Science & Technology, in Durham, UK. After an industrial position at Cambridge BioTechnology, she gained three years' editorial experience with the research journal Chemical Communications. She joined Nature Materials in August 2007, where she handles manuscripts in the subject areas of bio-inspired, biomedical and biomolecular materials as well as chemistry and polymer science.

Associate editor: Hilary Crichton

Hilary Crichton obtained her Master of Chemistry degree at the University of Edinburgh, UK. She followed this by completing a PhD in physical chemistry at Heriot-Watt University, UK. She joined Nature Materials in June 2008 after almost four years working as an assistant editor for the Royal Society of Chemistry where she handled papers for Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics and Faraday Discussions. Hilary is responsible for manuscripts concerning all aspects of physical chemistry including materials chemistry and organic conductors.
