The clinical Nature Reviews journals are treated as new journals in the ISI Journal Citation Reports. Therefore, they will receive their first impact factors in June 2011. The formerly titled Nature Clinical Practice series will continue to receive impact factors until June 2012. ISI will allow the two impact factors to be averaged in 2011 and 2012 to give the 'unified' impact factor of the two journals.
The 2008 impact factor for is for Nature Clinical Practice Neurology alone and is 6.979, according to the ISI Journal Citation Reports.
The 2008 impact factor represents the number of citations in 2008 of papers published in 2006 and 2007, divided by the total number of citable papers published in 2006 and 2007. A more detailed explanation of impact factors appears on the ISI web site.
