Abstract
The prominence of embryonic stem cells as a key issue in the US presidential election campaign is, at best, a mixed blessing for science.
The two main candidates for the world's most powerful elective office are poles apart on several science-related issues. Their answers to a series of questions on these topics reveal a rich tapestry of disagreement (see News Feature, page 238).
