Osteoarthritis (OA) is degenerative joint disease that leads to pain, stiffness and loss of function. OA is the most common form of arthritis and one of the most prevalent musculoskeletal disorders worldwide. Effective treatments are urgently needed but currently there are no drugs available that can prevent, halt or reverse the progression of OA. Efforts are underway to elucidate the pathophysiology of the disease and develop new treatments.
