  Schwann cell endosome CGRP signals elicit periorbital mechanical allodynia in mice

  The mechanism of CGRP-evoked peripheral pain is unclear. Here, the authors show that the CGRP-mediated neuronal/Schwann cell pathway mediates allodynia associated with neurogenic inflammation, contributing to the algesic action of CGRP in mice.

  Astrocyte deletion of α2-Na/K ATPase triggers episodic motor paralysis in mice via a metabolic pathway

  Mutations of α2-Na/K ATPase can cause familial hemiplegic migraine via unclear mechanisms. Here, the authors show that deletion of α2-Na/K ATPase in astrocytes results in gene expression and metabolic changes leading to cortical spreading depression and episodic transient motor paralysis in mice.

  Maladaptive activation of Nav1.9 channels by nitric oxide causes triptan-induced medication overuse headache

  The precise mechanisms that lead to medication-overuse headaches (MOH), which can occur with both over-the-counter and prescription pain-relief medicines, are still uncertain. In this study, authors show that the abnormal activation of dural nociceptor Nav1.9 channels by Nitric Oxide is responsible for triptan-induced MOH, causing hyperexcitability of dural nociceptors and headache.
